Any Neil Gaiman fans? Any Dave McKean fans? Any Jim Henson fans? Well, if you are the sort of person who enjoys the work from any of the previous three names, then you should check out Mirrormask. This movie is almost like a modern day Wizard of Oz. Helena, the main character, is the daughter of a circus family striving for a normal life. She spends her time drawing a fantasy world. Tragedy strikes her mother which pushes Helena to feel guilty for wanting to escape the circus life and family. One night she goes to sleep and wakes up into a familiar fantasy/dream world. Creatures, buildings, and people that appear to be created from Helena herself. The colors and imagination involved in this film are astounding. Very vibrant and dark colors make up the atmosphere in this good versus evil dreamscape. This movie is worth investing your time into.
